Dear Birthmother,

We admire you for considering adoption, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about us.

We’re both in our thirties and we’ve been together for seven years. We live in San Francisco with our dog Cody. Our home is full of love and laughter and we can't wait to share our lives with a child.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Jay & Staci

About Staci

I was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. (Yes, as in Dorothy, Toto and The Wizard.) While "there's no place like home", I always knew I wanted to explore the world. So far, I've traveled to Canada, Japan and China and I’ve lived in many amazing cities, like Seattle and New York City. Now I’m proud to call San Francisco my home.

I work for the Stanford University School of Engineering helping to build and manage the school’s website and social media. When I’m not working I enjoy swimming, hot yoga and dancing. I also love decorating birthday cakes and cupcakes for family and friends.

What Jay says about Staci...

Staci can always make me laugh, humor is such a large part of my life that it's great to be with someone who can appreciate a good joke. Staci is a great "co-pilot" both in the plane and in life and I feel very special having her in my life.

About Jay

I was born in Iowa and adopted when I was a month old. Being adopted has always been a part of who I am, and I look forward to sharing my experience with my child. When I was six my family moved to Greenville, South Carolina, which I now consider my “hometown.” I love southern cooking, southern hospitality, and at times can even speak “southerner.” I’ve always wanted to fly airplanes and live in California. I’m happy that I now get to do both!

I work for Rackspace Hosting where I help build iPhone and iPad applications. When I’m not working, I’m studying to be a flight instructor.

What Staci says about Jay...

Jay lights up a room with his eyes and his smile when he walks in. His warm personality, humor and sincerity endear him to everyone who meets him.

Family

Family is important to us and adoption has always been a part of it. Jay and his sister are both adopted and so are two of Staci’s cousins. After several rounds of infertility treatment we knew open adoption was the way to create our family.

Jay is the youngest of two. His sister Kim was also adopted. Kim now lives in San Francisco along with her husband, Robert, and their two daughters, Mia and Ellerie. Jay’s parents currently live in Kansas, but enjoy visiting San Francisco. Our family traditions include a yearly trip to Disneyland!

Staci is the oldest of three girls. We’re really excited that Staci’s sister Sheri recently relocated to Seattle! We look forward to taking many trips up to visit her and her boyfriend. Staci’s mom currently lives in Kansas City, but also loves visiting San Francisco.

Cody aka "Monster"

We have a lab mix named Cody aka "Monster." (We call all dogs "monsters" so his nickname in no way reflects his personality.) Cody Monster is the most gentle, easy-going dog. He loves chasing balls and swimming (when he gets the chance). Cody has spent time around our nieces and other young children and he has always been very gentle. In fact, he usually just rolls over on his back and begs them to pet his tummy.

Thoughts on Parenting

We both want to play an active role in our child’s daily life and we plan to share stay-at-home duties. Staci can’t wait to take our child to baby yoga and maybe even toddler dance class. We recently joined a community center near our home and we can't wait to take our child to swimming lessons.

We want our child to enjoy as much time as possible with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents, but we also have an extensive network of friends who look forward to playing a role in our child’s life.

We both believe strongly in the healing power of a good cry and a good laugh. We tell a lot of jokes and like to give each other a hard time. It's all in good fun!

We enjoy the thrill of trying new things, that’s why we love flying, even if it's just for a short flight around the Bay Area. We’re on a quest to find the best cheeseburger in California, so many of our flying adventures take us to small cities with old-school diners.

We want our child to know that curiosity is a good thing. We’re members of the California Academy of Science and the Exploritorium – both fun, hands-on science museums where learning about science is an interactive experience.

We’re interested in hearing from you and we’d love to learn more about you. Whatever you decide, we wish you the best, we know this isn’t an easy decision and we truly respect your strength and courage.
